Work was a bit more interesting today. I spent 2 periods relieving a class of 11 students, which was pretty slack, but i was bored to death. I spent my time walking around the classroom, looking out at the other classes in the other block, observing the students and reading graffiti on the tables. I conclude from all the graffiti that adolescence is really an angsty period.
So many of them tried to be profound and write quotes on love and life, but really, how much of it have they experienced? And then there was all the stuff about sisterhood and how the jie meis will always be there for each other. And there was the excessive amount of profanity and insults. And then some people just loved writing their names on the table. Doesn't that totally implicate them for destroying school property?
The discipline master happened to walk by my class today and ended up scolding them for taking too long to line up. So he made them go in and out of class lining up till they could do it within 5 seconds. He's scary man... And i just kept wondering why he couldn't come round when i was teaching the naughty class instead. They're the ones who need the scolding more.
During assembly, there was a public caning. First time i ever saw one and it was less dramatic than i imagined. Haha. The boy who got caned acted like it didn't really affect him and i don't really think that it did much good in helping him change his ways.
Assembly dragged on for a whole half an hour later than it should be, and i still had things to do after that, which resulted in me going home much later today. And i don't know if i ever mentioned this before, but the work plan is so screwed up.
Happy thing for the day: I didn't really have to face difficult classes today.
Thankful for: the breeze on yet another hot day
