Trip to Thailand 10-13 December

Well, well. I'm back from my trip but i don't really know what to elaborate on it. Everyday was pretty much the same, so it's rather pointless to give a blow by blow account. Heh.

This holiday was a better one than the one in June. Mainly because my older brother came along and introduced us to a lot of places. And also, this time, we didn't have to follow our parents around, so we had more freedom to roam on our own.

With a helpful map in hand, we went to the Suan-Lum night market, the Chatuchuk weekend market and the Pratunam market (this one only briefly, with our parents). We also pretty much roamed the entire Siam shopping belt. I usually went around with my younger brother (cos i had the money! Haha! :P), but at the Chatuchak market, we all split up and it was a new experience shopping by myself, but strangely liberating. I didn't have to wait for anyone, could look at whatever i liked, could go wherever i chose, and it's much easier to navigate the crowds alone.

I really had a lot of chance to shop this time, but unfortunately, my stamina for shopping is quite low :P And for some reason, i didn't manage to buy most of the things i had set out to buy. Wish i had more time to shop! Haha!

Other than shop, i got my teeth cleaned at the dentist's, discovered a shop that sells cheap mochi ice cream, had a foot massage, went to a thai restaurant where all the plates look like lotus leaves, went for spa and pigged out a lot. Sounds like a lot of fun, but i was seriously tired. Mainly because i couldn't sleep :(

I don't know why, but i just couldn't sleep properly. Usually, after the first night, i'd be able to adjust to sleeping in a new bed, but this time, i didn't manage to sleep properly throughout. I didn't really sleep on the plane there and back either, so i was really exhausted. When i came home, it felt more like i'd been for psych camp than a holiday! :P The same feeling of fatigue...

So i guess it's no wonder i fell sick :P By Saturday i was already battling a sore throat and leaky/blocked nose. I don't know if i caught a virus, or if it was just a result of being so tired, but i really think the sprint from one end of the airport to the other to catch our flight right at the last call did it for me.

I don't know why my brother led us in the opposite direction of our gate. And there i was happily following him only to find out 15 minutes before the plane is due to leave that our gate is at the extreme opposite end of the airport! I was so angry with him and totally regretting that i hadn't checked for myself. So my brothers and i (we had separated from our parents) made the unglamorous dash through the airport.

Being unwell, it was already difficult for me to breath, what with all the extra running involved. And wearing over sized slippers didn't help either. They attracted a lot of attention, slapping against the non-carpeted floor (so this is why Changi airport has carpets in the boarding areas...), as if i wasn't attracting enough attention already by running through the airport :P

When i finally reached, just in time, all sweaty and out of breath, i felt ready to collapse already. Try confining yourself in a budget flight seat in that condition, with your legs burning and the pressure increasing, and your mother questioning you about what happened when you can barely speak anymore. It's no wonder i got even more sick.

But i guess that's the most exciting part of my trip. Everything after we came home was rather unpleasant. My mother went back into cleaning mode, fussing over how we should do all the washing and complaining about the ironing, getting my father into a bad mood and complaining because we were too tired to go out to eat dinner. And all that inevitably got us in a bad mood. Sigh. What an end to a holiday huh? :/

So i am again reminding myself not to go on holiday with my parents again. Although i'd probably forget this soon enough :P

Thankful for: A holiday, anyways. Haha
